In collaboration with my home church, Coker UMC, we want to be a part of your Summer plans. We will be taking an 8-week (40 day) journey through 40 chapters of the Bible covering some of the biggest ideas. If you are traveling this summer, no worries, this study can go with you. Just bring along your smart phone, The Good Book, and Bible. I will post each day’s reading with a corresponding selection of classical music. Subscribers to my blog receive a daily email with a link to the post.
As we journey through The Good Book we will see two levels of God’s Story. On Sundays Pastor Adam will deliver a message about the over-arching narrative of God’s plan for redemption after the fall. During the week, we will take a closer look at how God relates to us and works through us.
If you can’t attend in person you can livestream at 9:30 or 11:00 Sunday mornings. Later in the week you can hear Pastor Adam’s message via sermon archives.
Thank you for following along on this eight-week journey.
The Good Book offers a user-friendly guide to the Bible’s biggest ideas. A chapter from the Bible accompanies each chapter of the book. This helps readers understand the context and content of Scripture passages in a way that can open the whole Bible.
The Good Book is designed as a forty-day journey through forty key chapters of the Bible. It will serve as a refresher to those who already love and read the Bible regularly. Also, it will appeal to those who are just beginning their Christian journey.

The Good Book:
- is a great evangelism tool for explaining the major themes of Scripture to those who want to know more about God, Jesus, and the core beliefs of Christianity;
- gives new believers an overview of the Bible and lays a framework to help them understand Scripture passages;
- helps longtime Christians rediscover the basic themes of Scripture and experience these truths in a new way; and
- encourages Scriptural literacy as it pushes readers to read both one chapter of the book and one chapter of the Bible each day for forty days.
Message From Coker UMC
For some people the Bible feels immense and unapproachable. Our hope is to provide a simple way for people to step into scripture for the first time. Also, it will be a refreshing way to increase your Biblical knowledge if you are a seasoned Bible reader. Through the sermon series you will receive the over-arching narrative for the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. Within Sunday School Classes, Small Groups, The Youth Group, and Family Discussion points, you can dive deeper. We will post questions weekly on the Coker Facebook Pastor’s Forum as well allowing you to jump into discussions any time. The Study begins June 17th.
