’Twas the year ’81, sixth of June was the day
When we both said “I do” and embarked on our way
I looked like a penguin you were dressed like a queen
The most beautiful woman that I’ve ever seen
The next day we left for a trip way out west
On the south shore of Lake Tahoe was our honeymoon nest
We took in some shows and we gambled a bit
And Yosemite’s beauty was also a hit
Seven days felt like a brief honeymoon
We really enjoyed it but it ended too soon
We had to get back to our jobs at Ma Bell
For if you showed up late you knew you’d catch hell
As DINKs we were able to save up our cash
To buy our first house we would need a big stash
We knew an apartment would simply not do
So we bought our first house, 973 Huntington View
With the whole world to see at home we couldn’t stay
So with tickets and maps we embarked on our way
We golfed in the desert and snorkeled in the sea
We hiked in the mountains but a cruise wasn’t for me
Europe came next with our friends Gregg and Ann
Four trips, seven countries we became a huge fan
We bought our dream house when we got tired of planes
14350 White Birch Valley Lane
And now it was time that we had our first kid
But would we meet your deadline? Yes we barely did
So Lauren was the first to join us in the hood
Our lives changed forever and all for the good
The year ’92 started off really well
But little did we know things would soon go to hell
We found out you were carrying child number two
You’re doctor’s prescription would be bed rest for you
My hands started tingling and so did my toes
MS was the culprit for all of my woes
When Mandy was born we were both filled with joy
I was a little surprised when she wasn’t a boy
I know you were shocked when you picked up the phone
And I told you my job would be in San Antone
Our favorite from all of the homes are our list
Was 17323 Fountain Mist
We raised our girls Texans with a midwestern drawl
They even say “you guys” instead of y’all
The way our boss treated us really did suck
But both careers ended with a small bit of luck
We helped our girls graduate college debt-free
A gift for which they both can thank you and me
Now where we’ll be as long as I’m alive
Is 17207 Fawn Brook Drive
Retirement is not what we hoped it would be
Traveling again with more places to see
With all of the things every day I must do
God sent me an angel, that angel is you
So let me exclaim for the 35th time
Happy anniversary Linda, I’m so thankful you’re mine
