Happy Valentine’s Day

my-valentine-card-PEvery February 14th, across the United States and in other places around the world, candy, flowers and gifts are exchanged between loved ones, all in the name of St. Valentine. But who is this mysterious saint, and where did these traditions come from? Click here to find out more about the history of this centuries-old holiday, from ancient Roman rituals to the customs of Victorian England, including videos, interesting articles, pictures, historical features and more.

Linda and I have our own Valentine’s Day tradition. We avoid restaurants and share a special Valentine’s Day meal at home. She watches numerous TV episodes and searches countless websites to find the perfect combination of healthy, delicious entrées and side dishes. After a trip to the grocery store to procure the ingredients she lovingly prepares, presents, and shares this culinary masterpiece with me. My sole contribution is selecting music.

Although the menu may change, Linda showers me with this authentic, unselfish expression of love every day. She has been doing so since before we were married. I may not say thanks often enough but I am grateful for all that she does for me, for us, and for our family.  Linda, I dedicate today’s post to you.

The Beatles’ second album released in the U.S.,  Meet the Beatles features familiar songs such as “All My Loving,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” and “I Wanna Hold Your Hand.” “Till There Was You” let us know the Beatles were going to be much more than pop stars. It was their cover of the song written for the Broadway play, The Music Man. Enjoy this low-fi version recorded from a “stereophonic” vinyl LP.

    Love your tribute to Linda!

This past November we saw Cirque de Soleil’s performance, “Love” that included the highlights of the Beatles’ musical career. It was fabulous.
